Where the crowds are in Waco
These are the windows where banner towing over Waco pays off: large outdoor crowds, predictable locations, and flight paths that keep your message over the audience for the whole flight.

Attendance figures come from published event, venue, and organizer estimates unless an event note says otherwise. Impressions are modeled exposures for one standard three-hour flight with about two hours over the event, not measured counts; the full methodology is below. Game-day rows reflect the outdoor pre-game crowd only, since the FAA restricts flight over large stadiums during games.
Why aerial works here
Waco was built for this
Waco's crowds sit on the water. McLane Stadium was deliberately built on the Brazos so fans could arrive by boat, and Baylor game days produce a tailgate fleet along the bank that no other Big 12 school has. From the air that means the audience is not confined to a bowl and a parking lot, it is strung along a river line a banner can follow at low altitude with nothing in the way. Everything else worth flying sits within two miles of that same line: the campus, downtown, Indian Spring Park, and the Silos. For a metro of 310,000, that concentration is the whole argument. You are not covering a city, you are covering a two-mile ribbon that the city happens to stand on.
Waco turned into a destination on the back of two things: Magnolia, which counted 825,281 visitors in 2023, and a Big 12 football stadium built on the Brazos in the middle of town.

The math, out in the open
Every number on this page comes from the same model we use in client proposals. Here it is, worked through for two of Waco's biggest flight windows.

Pre-game window only: the FAA restricts flight near the stadium from one hour before kickoff until one hour after the game.
Parade · Oct or Nov
Baylor Homecoming Parade
- Estimated attendance
- 85,000
- In view during the flight (crowd along the route)

How we estimate this
Each estimate starts from the event's typical attendance, discounted by a dwell factor (the share of attendees on site during a flight window) and a per-lap visibility rate (the share of that crowd with a practical line of sight to the banner). Multiplied by the laps flown in a standard flight (three hours, with about two hours over the event; transit to and from the staging field is not counted), that yields modeled impressions: total exposures, counted the way out-of-home media counts them, where one person seeing the banner on three laps counts three times. Unique reach never exceeds the crowd in view. These are modeled estimates, not measured counts, and we share the full math with every quote.
What that means for CPM
On event days like these, aerial typically models out below high-traffic billboard rates (roughly $5 to $15 CPM) and well below premium programmatic video ($15 to $30 CPM), while putting the message over a live, outdoor, phones-out crowd instead of a feed. And because the banner returns every lap, nearly everyone in view sees it more than once: the odds of someone on site for a full flight never seeing the banner are effectively zero.
Venues & flight context
The Waco flight map
Waco Regional is a Class D field with a surface area over the city, so banner work coordinates with the tower and holds around 1,000 feet. Flights stage from McGregor Executive, about thirteen nautical miles southwest, which is roughly fifteen minutes of transit each way at tow speed and keeps banner traffic out of the Class D surface area until it is on task. The Brazos gives a clean north-south orbit through the middle of the market. Baylor home games carry an FAA stadium flight restriction from one hour before kickoff until one hour after the game, so game-day flights work the tailgate and the boats ahead of it.

Proof from the sky
We fly this playbook every season

Jazz Fest, New Orleans
Stacked orbits directly over the Fair Grounds while attendance peaks. Every lap puts the banner back in front of the same tens of thousands of people, and by the end of the flight virtually everyone on site has seen it.

Parade flyover, Chopin Law Firm
A law firm's banner working a Mardi Gras parade route: high linear crowd density, a captive outdoor audience, and a message no billboard on the route could match for attention.
“We hired Pelican Sky to fly our banner over New Orleans and we could not be happier. If you are considering billboards, consider this!”
Justin Chopin, Owner, Chopin Law Firm
“They did a great job of helping us with impactful targeted advertising for our first year music festival, Boots on the Bayou.”
Craig Pierce, Founder, Boots on the Bayou Music Festival
FAQ
Waco flight questions, answered
How much does an airplane banner cost in Waco?
Pricing is per flight, based on flight time and banner type. Flights stage from McGregor Executive southwest of town, about fifteen minutes out at tow speed, so a standard three-hour flight still clears the two hours over the crowd that every impression figure on this page assumes. Send the date and you get availability and a firm quote back fast.
What is the best Waco flight of the year?
A Baylor home Saturday, and Homecoming Saturday above all of them. The parade runs downtown in the morning, the campus and the riverbank fill through the afternoon, and the boat tailgate on the Brazos puts a second audience directly under the approach to the stadium.
Can you fly over McLane Stadium during a Baylor game?
No. The FAA restricts flight near college stadiums seating 30,000 or more from one hour before kickoff until one hour after the game, and McLane seats 45,140. Flights work the hours before that restriction starts, which in Waco is when the tailgate and the boats are at their fullest anyway.
Is Magnolia traffic enough to justify a flight on its own?
On a Saturday, for the right advertiser, yes. Magnolia counted 825,281 visitors in 2023 and the traffic clusters on weekends, mostly day-trippers from Dallas and Austin. The modeled impressions for a Silos Saturday are well below a Baylor game day, and we would rather you see both numbers and decide than have us round the smaller one up.
Who actually flies the banner in Waco?
Vetted, FAA-certificated banner tow operators from our national network, coordinated by Pelican Sky Banners under one contract, one insurance standard, and one point of contact. You brief us once; we handle the operator, the banner, and the flight plan.
How far in advance should I book a Waco flight?
Two to four weeks for a Baylor Saturday or Silobration weekend, since operator capacity in a market this size is thinner than in Dallas or Houston. A new custom aerial billboard adds roughly two weeks of printing. Once your billboard exists, repeat flights on ordinary weekends can often be arranged within a week.
